Indianapolis, IN (September 28, 2021) – Inc. today announced its fourth annual Female Founders 100 list, honoring the most exceptional, trailblazing, and diverse group of 100 women who powered through adversity in a very tough year and changed the world.
The final list honors entrepreneurs of every age, background, and geography—from very early-stage founders with world-changing ideas to women who have taken companies public, sold them to big buyers, or spent decades building and running their businesses. These women are leading innovative companies in a vast range of global industries, including tech, retail, finance, fitness, health care, consumer products, food, and more.
“Leading the team at 120Water is a huge honor,” said Megan Glover, Co-Founder and CEO at 120Water. “I’m incredibly proud of how we’ve grown over the last 6 years and the innovative work we do in partnering with water systems across the country to provide clean drinking water. Our mission is to protect public health, and I truly believe we are just getting started with how we support the water industry in continuing that mission.”
120Water is an end-to-end platform built for water professionals to help them manage drinking water and wastewater programs. The solution was birthed out of Glover’s desire to better understand what was in the water she and her family were drinking following the Flint, MI, water crisis. The company offers cloud-based software, water sampling kits and professional services to its growing customer base.
Since the company’s founding in 2016, Glover has grown the Indianapolis-based start-up to over 70 employees, and their solution has been implemented in 30 states, with over 200 customers and 15,000,000 lives impacted. The company has received numerous endorsements and accolades, including Rise of the Rest and ImagineH20 accelerator winners, Water Environment Association of Texas Innovation of the Year award, and National Rural Water Association’s exclusive partner for Lead & Copper compliance.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, the team at 120Water quickly adapted to meeting customer needs by releasing their wastewater surveillance solution that is able to track the spread of COVID-19 within a community, giving public health officials a 7-day leading indicator of potential outbreaks and hotspots. The team has continually expanded partnerships and developed innovative solutions anchored by their collective drive to support water professionals and protect public health.
Inc. editors and writers went through thousands of impressive applications that revealed ways that many female founders triumphed in a year filled with challenges. The result is an incredible list of founders who have improvised, adapted, and created unique innovations. They join game-changing past honorees Jessica Alba, Tracee Ellis Ross, Rihanna, Shonda Rhimes, and more. Taken together, they represent the female-led future of business.
“The 100 women highlighted on this list are inspiring, creative, tenacious, and trailblazing role models in entrepreneurship. What’s more is they were able to achieve success during one of the toughest years ever. That’s something certainly worth celebrating,” says Inc. editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk.
