120Water chosen from 13 companies from five countries
INDIANAPOLIS (March 22, 2019) – The global spotlight is on Zionsville-based 120Water today as it closes out Water Innovation Week in San Francisco and takes one of the water industry’s most prestigious titles as World Water Day kicks off.
Imagine H20, a global accelerator program that empowers firms to develop and deploy innovative global water solutions, has selected 120Water as the winner of the 2019 Imagine H2O Global Accelerator Finalist. A panel of 30 judges representing all facets of the water industry selected the Zionsville innovator from among 13 companies from five countries.
“To go from zero to $2.4 million in revenue in just two years in this industry is a serious achievement,” said Tom Ferguson, Imagine H2O’s vice president of programming. “But more importantly 120Water is creating the business applications this industry needs to help communities solve a crucial water issue that affects every state in the nation.”
120Water was selected from more than 250 applicants across the world earlier in the year to participate in the accelerator program. The pitch competition itself includes a prize of $25,000 but 120Water founder and Chief Executive Officer Megan Glover
“Earning this honor reiterates that innovative ideas matched with dedication, hard work and diligence can deliver an impact to addressing the water crisis facing so many places throughout the nation and the world,” said Glover.
Glover’s company, which is also a finalist for the for New Tech of the Year and the Scale-Up of the Year in the TechPoint 2019 MIRA Awards, has gained notoriety as a thought leader in the water industry in short order. 120Water provided testing kits and data management and analysis for the Indiana Finance Authority’s statewide school lead-testing program, helped the state of Maryland with a similar program, and is currently contracted to help implement a lead-testing program in Chicago schools and daycares. The company is also working with city and municipalities in Pittsburgh, Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Hamtramck, Michigan.
“Data is a building block you must have in water,” said Imagine H20 President Scott Brian. “Without data, you can’t plan, and you can’t do things, big things, in water.”
Participants in the ImagineH2O accelerator program receive resources, insight and visibility to help launch and scale water technology businesses, and introduces them to a global network of customers and investors.
Since 2009 the program has had more than 100 companies selected to participate in the program. In 2018, Imagine H2O’s accelerator companies and alumni collectively raised more than $140 million in venture financing.
